Roanoke Island Snorkeling Adventure

ISLAND SNORKELING ADVENTURE:

Ages 10 and up.  All participants MUST BE SWIMMERS.

Roanoke Island Adventure. A private lake on Roanoke Island is the perfect place for the whole family to enjoy calm, clear, warm water.  No wetsuit needed.  This guided activity includes guide, all snorkeling equipment.  You just bring a bathing suit, towel, sunscreen and water. 

Snorkel tour includes: mask, a snorkel, fins, and a wetsuit. We have snorkel vest if requested although the wetsuit will keep you afloat.  

All participants must be swimmers and very comfortable in the water.

Try SCUBA

$100 Per Person

Private classes are available at $200 per person. Ages 10 and up.

This is a perfect activity for children and adults. If you want to try SCUBA diving in the warm, calm waters of our pool, this is for you!

This 1 1/2 to 2-hour course introduces you SCUBA diving, fits you for equipment, then gets you into the pool where you can try breathing underwater.

Must be a good swimmer, be comfortable in the water, and able to equalize (pop) your ears. Students must also be free of asthma, diabetes, or other chronic lungs, heart, or other respiratory diseases in order to try SCUBA.

Resort Dive - (You must first complete a Try Scuba)

$125 Per Person Lake/$175 Per Person Ocean (these dives includes all equipment)

Ages 12 and up for lake and 15 and up for ocean. Once you complete our Try SCUBA course, you may opt to add a lake* dive to become more comfortable with the equipment. Class takes 2 hours.

You must be in good physical health, a good swimmer, very comfortable in the water, be able to equalize (pop) your ears, and be able to carry 50 lbs which is how much the equipment weighs.

You must also be free of any chronic heart, lung, or other respiratory disease, asthma, diabetes or any seizure disorder.

*The lake is located on Roanoke Island, NC 5 minutes from our shop in Manteo.

Once you have successfully completed the lake dive you can opt for the Ocean dive to a shipwreck.  This is a shallow wreck (20ft) but is very strenuous.  You would need to walk with all your equipment on across the beach, be able to put your fins on standing waist deep in ocean, then fin out @100 yards.

Referral Dive

$225 Per Person

(includes 4 dives and scuba equipment.  You must bring or purchase here any personal gear (mask, snorkel, fins, boots or gloves

Book on Monday for dive 1 & 2 then we will schedule dive 3 & 4.)

Complete your SCUBA training with us after having completed academic and pool portions at home.

Includes SCUBA gear and four (4) open water dives over the course of two (2) days. We are a Universal Referral Facility, meaning we can complete dives with you who have completed your classroom and pool portion with NAUI, PADI, SSI, or SDI certification. 

You must bring your own gear: mask, snorkel, fins, and boots, or you you can purchase them through us. The classes are @3 hours per day for 2 days.

If you took a PADI classroom and pool class then you will receive a SDI Certiciation as PADI is not a part of the Universal Referral.  This means that we are providing the C-card, there is a $40 fee for the card. You can still dive at any dive facility in the world as all certification agencies are accepted worldwide.

Rusty Diver Check-Out

$175 Per Person

Has it been more than a year since your last dive? Choose a Rusty Diver Check-out Dive and an Instructor or Divemaster will cover the basics and get you ready for your next diving adventure.

The class is 3-hours and includes a dive with one of our instructors in our training quarry and equipment.

SCUBA Gear Package: includes a tank, a BCD, a regulator w/octopus, a gauge, a wetsuit, and weights.

Personal Gear Package: includes a mask, a snorkel, fins, boots, gloves, and a hood. Additional $25.

NAUI Scuba Diver

Entry level open-water diving classes. Ages 10 and up.

The regular course includes all instruction, textbook, pool fees, training, logbook, certification card, four (4) open water dives, and SCUBA gear associated with dives.

Students will need to purchase their personal gear: mask, snorkel, fins, and booties.

  • The course involves three (3) classroom sessions, 3-hours each.
  • Three (3) pool sessions, 3-hours each where you learn to use gear and SCUBA skills
  • Four (4) open-water dives that run 3 to 4-hours per day over 2 days (dives will be completed in a private quarry located on Roanoke Island, NC.

Note: You must be a good swimmer and in good physical condition with no breathing problems (asthma, diabetes, heart, lung illness, or seizure disorders).

You must be able to swim underwater for a short distance and be able to equalize (pop) your ears.

You must be very comfortable in the ocean.

Students will need to purchase their own masks, snorkel fins, booties, and gloves. Do NOT purchase them before class starts as we discuss the types of equipment required for SVUBA diving.

We also offer a compressed class ($695) that takes four (4) days of pool and dives, plus home study before you arrive. The fee includes classroom materials, all instruction and pool fees, four (4) open-water dives, and your certification card. Does not have to be continuous days, but all dives must be completed within three months of finishing pool work.

NAUI Breath-Hold Skin Diving Certification Course 40ft Maximum Depth

$295 Per Person

Course takes one full day or two, half-days. Ages 12 and up.

Learn breath-hold (freediving) diving techniques! This is an introductory course and is necessary if you wish to start freediving.

You will learn proper breath hold techniques, the science behind freediving, and pool skills such as equalizing, finning, diving, weighting yourself properly, and safety skills.

Class includes classroom and dives. You must be a good swimmer and very comfortable in the water. Students need to own, purchase, or rent their own personal gear ( mask, snorkel). Fees include instruction and the open water dives. Certification card included.

NAUI Advanced SCUBA Diver

$395 Per Person 

Must be 15 years or older and hold a SCUBA diver certification.

Don't just get advanced certified, get advanced qualified! This course is the next level up from beginner.

The course consists of a review of skills and equipment, and six (6) dives with one of our instructors. One dive will be deeper than 60 ft (not to exceed 130 ft). One dive will be held at night or low-visibility. One dive will focus on navigation. Three remaining dives will be of choice by you and your instructor.

Must bring or buy all personal gear: mask, snorkel, fins, booties, slate, compass, flashlight, and wreck reel.

The fees include textbook, instruction, and NAUI certification card. Boat fees are additional.

NAUI Nitrox Diver

$195 Per Person

Ages 15 years and older. Must have a NAUI Advanced Certification or equivalent, and all personal gear.

Required for the purchase of Nitrox gas for tanks. Includes classroom materials, certification card, six (6) hours of instruction (classroom or online), and two (2) dives using Nitrox.

Learn the physics behind oxygen and nitrogen while studying safe Nitrox practices. Fees include textbook and classroom materials, instruction, and NAUI certification card. Boat fees are additional.

NAUI Rescue Diver

$395 Per Person

Ages 15 years and older. Must have a NAUI Advanced Certification or equivalent, CPR and First Aid certifications, and all personal gear.

Course covers rescue skills and self-rescue skills to manage risks and handle diving emergencies and rescues. Includes textbook, instruction, and NAUI certification card.

NAUI Master SCUBA Diver

$595 Per Person

Must be 15+ years old, have an NAUI Advanced Certification or equivalent, and all personal gear. 

Intended for divers interested in increasing recreational diving skills or for those wishing to proceed to a leadership course.

Includes instruction (classroom or online), eight (8) dives, and a certification card.

Dives will test your skills to the limit and expand your capabilities and experience. You must own your own gear or rent it. A textbook is additional.

Required Dives: emergency dive, procedures/rescue, deep/simulated decompression diving, night/low-visibility dive, navigation, search & recovery (light salvage).

Elective Dives: skin diving, environmental study, air consumption, boat diving, shore diving, hunting, and collecting.

Leadership Course

Must be 18+ years old, have a NAUI Master Diver Certification or equivalent, Rescue Certification, as well as CPR and First Aid Certifications.

Must have completed a NAUI FIT course and have all SCUBA personal gear. Must also acquire medical approval and proof of good physical condition within 12 months of taking classes and purchase all required classroom materials. The prices listed do not include books, certificate fees, boat fees, or equipment.

NAUI Assistant Instructor

As an Assistant Instructor, you will be authorized to teach all aspects of skin and SCUBA diving under the supervision of a NAUI Instructor.

This is the best way to develop your instructional skills. The rating can be a step toward becoming an Instructor or an end in itself.

Overview

The NAUI Assistant Instructor rating is a Naui Leadership Level. The program is designed to introduce students to diving instruction basics. It also tests individuals in fundamental water skills needed to be capable assistants. Certification authorizes individuals to assist active-status NAUI Instructors in the conduct of dive training. The NAUI Assistant Instructor certification is a highly recommended step in the progression to NAUI Instructor.

Qualifications of Graduates

  • A current NAUI Assistant Instructor is qualified to assist active-status NAUI Instructors in teaching skin, and scuba diving during sanctioned diving courses, provided the activities and locale are similar to those of the training. Additional training or experience is to be obtained by the Assistant Instructor who desires to assist in highly specialized training activities, such as deep, wreck penetration, cavern, or ice dives.
  • An NAUI Assistant Instructor can be counted toward student-instructor ratios.
  • An active-status NAUI Assistant Instructor who completes an NAUI-DAN First Aid Instructor orientation, who has completed all required NAUI-DAN orientation modules and is using the NAUI-DAN training and support materials, may teach the NAUI-DAN First Aid programs.
  • After assisting an active-status NAUI Instructor with at least one complete NAUI Scuba Diver course, a current NAUI Assistant Instructor is qualified, if all other prerequisites are met, to enter an NAUI Divemaster Training Course (DMC) and/or Instructor Training Course (ITC).

Prerequisites for the Course

  • Minimum age is 18 years by the water phase of the course.
  • Current registration as an NAUI FIT Program graduate.
  • Current certification in NAUI First Aid for the Diving Professional or equivalent.
  • Current certification in NAUI Oxygen Provider or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 50 logged open water scuba dives with a minimum of 25 hours bottom time. Dives shall be varied in environment, depth, and activities.
  • Medical Approval - Verification of good physical condition as documented by a medical examination and unconditional approval for diving by a licensed physician within the preceding 12 months.
  • Materials – Contact the NAUI Training Department for current requirements.

NAUI Divemaster

$895 Per Person

Qualifies for leading trips, employment opportunities, and may enter an Instructor Training Course (ITC) once certified as a Divemaster. Must have 60 logged dives.

Books, certificate fees, as well as travel and boat expenses are additional from the $895 tuition listed above.

This course is for those who are in good health and have proof of current physical exam and approval by your doctor. Prerequisites include Rescue Diver and a current CPR card.

NAUI Instructor Cross-Over
